Happy Matariki! By Matt

We've been learning about Matariki in class and how Maori people celebrate it in their tribes. We found out that Maori chiefs wear their traditional maori kakahus (say ka-ka-hu-s) which are Maori cloaks. We found out that different feathers mean different things so we made our own kakahus with different coloured feathers. We had to say what each coloured feather meant and we came up with lots of different colours. In the end our cloaks looked great and everyone had fun.

  2. Beautiful kakahus G4. It looks like you have put considerable thought into making these so I will be interested to get you to tell me about the making of them when I next pass by. You are a very talented group and I always enjoy seeing your creations!
